The Empty Truck

THE EMPTY TRUCK
The truck went by very fast all it’s horses
homeward bound,
No cargo, just a large empty flat bed and
the sweet sound
Of fast flying wheels now free from heavy
weight and care,
And we wondered where home was and who’d
be waiting there.
Maybe a wife and children, a car and dog anxious
as can be
And with open arms and sparkling eyes with a
baby on his knee,
Or a lonely room just a few things with a television
and a radio,
To which did the empty speeding truck unknowingly
so swiftly go.

Will Summer Never End?

Saturday, October 21st, 2000

I love it when fall feels like summer sweet,
With vivid blue skies, and warm air does greet
As we wander in the warmth of the October sun,
It is almost as if summer has only just begun.
Even the rain, when it falls is gentle and warm,
Another gift extra, no biting insects swarm,
So we can walk by the blue lake hand in hand
And gaze at the beauty of this our precious land.
The flowers lift their heads every morning anew,
Covered not in frost, but sweet refreshing dew.
I hope summer lingers in this fair land of ours
And fill us with joy and happy warm, sunny hours
