Sisters In The Temple

Thursday, December 21st, 2000

Peaceful and so serene seem the sisters clothed in white,
Each one shining with a radiance clear and bright,
Smiling eyes, a gentle touch, hearts that know and feel,
Spreading the light of the gospel, they know God is real.

Walking in silence through the temple smoothly they go,
Nothing seems hurried, every gentle movement does flow,
No voices raised in anger, no cruel words ever come
From mouths that speak of love, as Jesus would have done.

Love glows around them as they serve day by day,
Showing hoe to live the gospel the real and proper way.
“Let your light so shine,” the Saviour told us all to do,
Come visit the temple and see that light shine through.

No one knows the joy that comes from serving here within,
Far away from the hectic life and the traffics noisy din,
Till you come and serve and then feel the blessing flow,
That makes the sisters radiate everywhere they go.

Brightly Shining Lights

Friday, December 1st, 2000

The lights were shining brightly, a warm welcoming glow
From the spire of the temple on the cold world below,
Yet everyone hurries passed, hardly any stop to call.
Everywhere is so quiet, very few people around at all.

Open arms are waiting to welcome all the patrons in,
Away from worldly troubles, away from noise and din.
Many quietly, patiently wait for all the folks to come,
Waiting for how long, for their work to be all done?

Maybe if the lights were brighter more would find the way
In through the doors of the temple, and so come and stay,
Then soak up the spirit and be fed by God’s great love,
Feel of all the blessing that flood from heaven above.

Maybe if the spire were higher, reached high into the sky,
More folks would see it, come in instead of driving by.
Enter and share the serenity that is felt in this holy place,
Enter in and bask in it and know of God’s good grace.

Maybe it will make no difference how bright outside may shine
The light has to glow in within the Saints, in your heart and mine,
Then the temple will be crowded, then patrons will be everywhere,
Serving themselves and others and feel God’s presence there.

Sermon On The Mount

Thursday, November 9th, 2000

I would have loved to sit down on the long green grass
And reverently listened so everything came to pass
On that gently slopping, flowered covered knoll,
And heard the words of the Saviour so long ago.

I am sure His voice soothed a sad sorrowing soul,
Given others comfort, helped them feel whole,
The healing power of the Son of God here among men,
How still I would have sat with Him, been with Him then.

Did those listening know how long-lasting those words were,
How, if they were followed, could be the perfect cure
Of most of the ills of life if everyone lived that way,
Instead of the wars and torment that beset us today.

If all men had lived by these eternal, blessed rules,
Instead of thinking they knew better than God’s jewels
Of wisdom, spoken sweetly by God’s own beloved son,
So showing us the way, so God’s heaven may be won.

Let us all do our best to follow the golden path
Called the beatitudes, That gives us all the father hath,
Read that scripture often and strive each day to be
Closer to the Saviour and prepare for the joys of eternity.

Fountain Of Water

Thursday, September 14th, 2000

There is a fountain of water so pure and clear,
Falling in sweet cadences in the temple garden here,
It is like the love of God, springing up for evermore,
Showering us with goodness as we His name adore.

Listen to the sound it makes as sweetly it falls.
It is saying “Come and serve,” please hear the calls
That are meant for you and me to share God’s love,
That fountain of purity that springs from God above.

Let us drink of the waters of life everlasting
And we will be filled with God’s blessings,
O water pure and clear that sparkles in the sun,
Fill us with His love, like when our life first begun.

May the temple fountain remind me of God’s love,
May it keep my feet treading to my goal of heaven above,
May it’s clarity and goodness remind me always to be
Like our dear Lord and Saviour, full of pure integrity.

How Can I?

Saturday, August 5th, 2000

How can I find words that tells of the love
That glows like a beacon guiding the way
To celestial homes in realms up above?
Oh help me find the right words to say.

In God’s holy places we are taught
And shown so clearly the path to tread,
How to be free from any evil thought
And to overcome every earthly dread.

God in His mercy loves us so deep
He’s given us temples wherein to learn
Of heaven and maybe through the veil peep
And so always want for heaven to yearn.

That gift is there waiting for you dear friend
Come share in the blessings that are so free,
For in this uncertain world, we can depend
On God and His truth to your journey’s end.

Fathers Guide Your Children

Sunday, May 21st, 2000

Fathers guide your children onward,
Guide them to their home above.
Be a father full of goodness
Be a father full of love
Guide your children, guide your children
To their heavenly home above.

Fathers follow Christ’s example
In all the things you do and say.
Show them with much tender loving
Show the true and faithful way
Show your children, show your children
By the things you do and say.

Fathers never force your children
To do the right things each day.
Show them gently, show them kindly
Freedom to choose the right way
Teach your children, teach your children
Choose the right things every day.

Fathers, one day you’ll be worthy
Of a kingly throne on high.
Lead your children onward, upward
To be together when you die.
Love your children, love your children
With a love that never dies.

Our Kindly, Loving Mothers

Wednesday, May 3rd, 2000

Kindly loving mothers, we think of you today,
Think of all your goodness, things you do and say,
Guiding gently onward up to heaven above,
Led by inspiration and God’s pure love.

Refrain
Mothers are like light from heaven showing us the way
We will try to love them forever and a day

Your eyes reflect God’s goodness, shows us tender care,
Your hands are hands of giving, always being there,
No task is beneath you, mother kind and true,
You show God’s presence, in all you say and do.

Refrain

Mothers never leave us, we may stay behind,
But they wait in heaven, there sweet joy to find
Waiting with the patience known to them world wide,
Could there be a heaven if she were not by your side?

Refrain

No, for a mothers loving is part of Fathers plan,
Families together for the good of man.
Mothers help it happen, show the better way
To progress though life and so in heaven stay.

A Sad Heart

Friday, February 11th, 2000

It is sad to see a lonely heart, one that’s empty inside,
Where a smiling face cannot the true hurt and pain hide,
When eyes do not ever sparkle bright with pure delight,
For no loved one appears, or ever comes into sight.

Sad must be the soul that has turned way love
For career or fortune, not wanting children from above.
Can any success or fame be worth that great cost?
For having no loved one or children, I would be lost.

For gold and silver, riches and fame are worthless to me
If my family were not there to share love for eternity.
I know that God would still love me, take me home one day,
But then heaven would be empty, none of my children at play.

So I may never be rich with all the worldly things,
But I have the real treasures that my family beings.
A love that binds each beating heart so it is one,
How ever big it grows, true love has at last won.

For that is the plan of heaven, a loving sweet family,
Loving and living for each other through eternity,
If I give my heart to true eternal precious things,
May be I’ll hear in heaven the praises my family sings.
